Contemplation is to adore God by the simple act of quietly being in His presence. No words or ritual actions are required–we bring ourselves to God and He, (as Abraham told his son Isaac), will provide the rest. It is as old as humanity itself and is solidly rooted in Scripture and the Church’s tradition. Even the angels and the elect in heaven practice it, as St. John tells us in the Book of Revelation.

Centering Prayer is a modern expression of this way of adoration. St Sebastian Parish has a Centering Prayer group that meets on Monday evenings from 7:00-8:00 PM in the old historic church to pray and share spiritually together. We have been meeting together for nine years and always welcome new faces.

If you feel a yearning in your heart to grow closer to God, to become more authentic in living the Christian life,–I guarantee that Centering Prayer, practiced sincerely, will achieve that. We invite you to join us to pray and learn more about contemplative Centering Prayer.
